Works Noise+Signal

Noise+Signal

This project began as a series of drawing performances at Manchester School of Art, FACT, Liverpool and Cornerhouse, Manchester exploring the artistic visualisation of biosensor data. I worked with a creative coder to reconfigure the ways in which the data could be visualised using my drawings as a framework. For the performance, signals from skin galvanometers and EEG headsets were transmitted in real time upon a large sheet of paper and traced.

‘Noise+Signal’ has since been developed into an interactive and participative installation that enables participants to have agency over their own bio-data by drawing it in real time. Bio-data is not stored in this process, but rather projected in real time as an artistic interpretation ensuring that it cannot be ‘read’ by others. The work has been shown during science festivals, a drop-in event at V&A museum, as well as part of a solo show at Watermans Arts, London.
