Commissioned by Animate Projects during spring 2020 in the early days of the pandemic, ‘in the same breath’ focuses upon internal body imagery and evokes the intensity of the first weeks of lockdown. A soundtrack of heartbeats, breathing, hand washing and swallowing is accompanied by internal body imagery that suggests medical scans. The drawings are animated by using creative coding methods to emphasise that data and algorithms model and predict future outbreaks.
The film has been selected for Kinofilm, Manchester (2022); ShortCircuitFilms, Fabrica, Brighton (2022); VAST LAB experimental film festival, Los Angeles (2023).
