‘Wateriness 1’ is part of a series of short experimental films made at Yorkshire Sculpture Park during a residency with Invisible Flock in 2021. They combine Lidar scanning footage, photogrammetry footage captured by a drone and video. Lidar technologies are typically used to scan rock formations and are not designed to scan water. I wanted to push the technology to its limits and explore whether it could capture ‘wateriness’. In this film, my body movements as I walk with the scanner along a lake suggest the movement of water. This is combined with a video of the surface of the lake where a reflection of the camera can be seen.
The film was selected for the Bath Arts Fringe Festival in 2024.
